Borders Heritage Week 2011: H2O
Neidpath Castle Open for Heritage Week 2011
|
Date:
10 September 2011
Duration:
Until 18/9/11
From the source to the sea, Heritage Week in the Scottish Borders offers a host of activities and venues to explore and enjoy. Water is the life-blood of the Borders. Prehistoric hunters and gatherers followed the Borders rivers in search of food; farmers across time have depended on even the most minor of burns for their crops; and the sea has always been a source of food, transport and a connection to the wider world. In more recent times, our rivers have powered the textile industry; provided a drinking supply to Edinburgh; and supported an internationally renowned fishing industry. Heritage week this year celebrates our human connections with our rivers and the spectacular coast.
