Half a mile north of the village of Eccles stands the Crosshall Cross, which was placed here so that travellers would know that they were approaching Eccles Nunnery. This impressive medieval stone cross stands over 4m tall an on its four sides are carvings, which include a man and a greyhound (east) and a stepped latin cross (north).
