History of site:

The original house was built in the 18th century but most of what can be seen today dates from the early 19th. The house is set with extensive and attractive policies (parkland). The house, which is open each July contains an internationally renowned art collection including Canaletto's "Whitehall", numerous historic artefacts including proof editions of some of Sir Walter Scott's works and also contains a restored Victorian Kitchen.
